Why "Redeemer Church"?
When the realization that God was calling us to plant a church came on me, I began thinking about what we would name it. Before New England was ever on my radar, the name Redeemer Church kept coming back to me. As I think about Jesus and the many ways we know Him, (as Friend, Lord, King, etc.) the thought occurred that we cannot know Him as these things unless we first know Him as our Redeemer. It is through His death, burial, and resurrection alone that we can have redemption, eternal life, and truly know Him.
As we toured a bit of New England, we saw and pondered its rich spiritual history. This was the place of the Puritans, the land of the Great Awakening with theologians like Jonathan Edwards and evangelists like George Whitfield and later D.L. Moody, the place of the Haystack Prayer Meeting and missionaries like David Brainerd, Luther Rice, and Adoniram Judson. But then we saw the current state of New England...

When I compared that rich history with how it is today, I was heartbroken. But....our God is one of Redemption! He takes that which is dead and brings it alive again! This is true of our souls and it can be true also of the land where our Nation was founded. A land that once boldly preached the Gospel can be redeemed again, if a people will trust in the Lord and unwaveringly preach His Word to that dark and dying land. But in order for this to take place, the lost must come to know Jesus Christ as their Redeemer.
This is reflected in our logo: a modern take on the Passion Cross, the ends of the cross are pointed to represent the nails, a reminder that the cost of our redemption was Jesus' death on the cross.
